However keen you are to take on new employees, there are many valid reasons to ensure the screening of potential applicants takes place prior to going ahead and hiring them to do the job.

Knowledge of their History

It is important to know your potential employee’s history so you can make a good judgment about what they will be like in the future for you. Knowing history means that you will be able to make a good guess about how they will perform for you.

Discover Their Abilities

When potential employees undertake screening their abilities will be apparent and you will get a good idea of what they are capable of. This will ensure your decisions about whether or not to recruit them, are much easier for you to make.

Find Out About Their Strengths

Strengths and abilities are two different things and when you screen your candidates you will be able to see what they can do, and how well they can do it. Are they natural born leaders? Are they to be regarded as honest and trustworthy individuals? These are the questions you should be asking to make sure they are right for the position being applied for.

Be Aware of Their Weaknesses

Just as strengths are important it is also necessary for you to be aware of any weaknesses of potential employees. Weaknesses are not always negative. It could be that a person’s weakness makes them the ideal candidate for a team situation. However, a particular weakness could also make it impossible for an employee to carry out the duties of the job so it is important for you to be aware of any weaknesses from the start.

Are They Interested?

The screening process gives you the opportunity to see that the potential employee is actually interested in the job you have on offer. Throughout the screening process, the potential employee can ask questions to enable him or her to understand what the job entails and get a feel of what would be expected of them. How interested they are in the job will help you to make the decision of whether of not to employ them.

Make the All-Important Match

When you screen potential employees, it is the best chance that you have to make sure that you are making a good match. When you are screening employees, talking to them, and getting a feel for who they are and what they are about, you will be able to make sure that you have made a good match with your new employees.

Screening potential employees is very important because it will give you a chance to get the right employee for your needs. Although the screening process can be long and tiring, it is worth it so that you can be sure your employees will last a long time and be perfect for your company.
