Hiding stretch marks is a popular thing nowadays. No one wants to be seen with the red or purple lines that cry out “I have stretch marks!” Swimwear, lingerie, and anything even close to transparent goes in the trash as soon as stretch marks pop up. However, it doesn’t have to be the end of the world for stretch mark sufferers…it just takes an understanding that though they won’t disappear before your very eyes, they can be effectively reduced to a level where they might as well be invisible.
See the bad thing about stretch marks is where they come from. Eating, pregnancy, becoming more muscular…all these are things we enjoy, (although some women might disagree with me when they’re hanging off the toilet) yet doing too much of them, or doing them too quickly can leave us with a nasty reminder. Common sense would tell us that we can control a lot of our stretch marks by just limiting our eating and drinking, and eating the right kinds of foods. The less junk we put in our body, the better our chances of fighting these little demons we know as stretch marks.
There are a few household items that can help fight the war against stretch marks. I’m sure you’ve heard of a lot of them, but let me run down the list just in case. Egg whites, jojoba, olive oil, shea butter, vitamin E creams, and cocoa butter are just a few of the recipes I’ve been given throughout the years. Applying these “remedies” may or may not work, but to up your chances of success try these simple tips: Use these creams and oils right after you get out of the shower or bath…your body will absorb more of the cream and give you a better chance of fighting those stretch marks. Depending on the severity of your stretch marks, I’d recommend doing this once or twice a day.
In a hurry? Try this tip given to me by a mother of three out in California. Apply a little bit of that sunless tanning cream (make sure you’ve got the right shade) and kazaam! the stretch marks will disappear, at least until the cream wears off. Not a long lasting solution, but good for emergency situations. Just make sure you get some waterproof stuff…don’t want any embarrassing situations popping up! If you don’t like sunless tanning creams, try some of your foundation or face powder…they work just as well.
