For your Chihuahua puppy’s safety, you need to not only puppy-proof your home and have a regular and emergency vet’s number by the phone, but you need to make sure your Chihuahua puppy’s name is sensible. Your pup will get into a lot of mischief ? some of it potentially lethal. Your Chihuahua puppy will need to learn to pay attention to you and look to you for guidance. You can’t do that if you don’t give the pup a name that he or she ignores.

If you have decided that a Chihuahua puppy is in your immediate future, the next step will be to find the right puppy for you. There is a right way and a wrong way to purchase a Chihuahua puppy, and the right way will save you plenty of money and heartache in the long run. First, never run to a pet shop that has a sign saying, “Chihuahua puppies for sale”. Pet shops are basically brokers for irresponsible commercial breeders and puppy mills that are breeding dogs to make a quick buck. These dogs are rarely healthy and well socialized and will certainly not be the kind of pet that you want for your family.

When searching for Chihuahua puppies for sale be sure to check with the National Kennel organizations first. Searching the Internet is another good idea when looking for Chihuahua puppies, but be sure and check out the sources very carefully. Educating yourself on Chihuahua puppies will help you understand the breed and locate a reputable breeder. When you choose a breeder make sure your Chihuahua puppy has its AKC papers and shots. He should also be wormed and have a generous health guarantee. Finally, be sure your breeder gives you a sample of dog food for your new puppy.

When you bring your new Chihuahua pup home for the first time you feel like you are ready to bond with your little dog and get started on a life full of love and happiness. That is great but you need to also be constantly learning about their behavior and the things you should be doing to help your dog get used to you and your house and also what you can do to help your dog learn to interact better with people. It is a long road you have ahead of you, but if you keep learning about your dog then the possibilities are endless.

If Napoleon had never been born, than it would be called the Chihuahua complex instead of the Napoleonic complex. This complex is when a short or small member of a species overcompensates for their lack of height with an incredibly domineering, aggressive set of behaviors. Almost everything on the planet is bigger than a Chihuahua. Sooner or later, your Chihuahua will exhibit Chihuahua problem behaviors.

You don’t have to be a professional photographer to take fabulous Chihuahua pictures of your pet. You can use a 35-mm. SLR camera to photograph your Chihuahua, but a digital camera works just as well and gives you the option of deleting your bad shots before you pay to have them processed and printed.

The name of the Chihuahua comes from the Mexican state that is located next to west Texas and New Mexico, but the breed actually came from the ancient Techichi dogs of the Toltecs when they were crossed with a hairless dog from the Orient. Indigenous to Central America Techichi dogs were a heavy-boned small dog that had a long coat. The modern day Chihuahua is smaller than the Techichi and the original breed was mute. When the Aztecs conquered the Toltecs the dogs became a sacred icon of the upper class society and was used in religious ceremonies to help guide the spirits of the dead.

After first being discovered in the 1850s in Mexico, the Chihuahua was first registered with the American Kennel Club in 1904. The breed is named after the Mexican state Chihuahua in which they were found, a region that borders Texas and New Mexico. However, this isn’t where the breed originally came from. Rather the breed comes from the ancient Techichi breed of dog that belonged to the Toltec Civilization near Mexico City.
