Yeast infection in males can often manifest itself in the inflammation of the glans penis - the penis tip that contains a network of blood vessels. Also known as Candida balanitis, male yeast infection is a particular kind of fungal infection called Candidiasis. This infection, like other specific types of Candidiasis (for example, vaginal and oral thrush) is caused by Candida species, of which the most frequent is Candida albicans. The organisms that encourage fungal growth are usually to be found on the glans skin, but certain conditions lead to their multiplication and Candida overpopulation.
